Sotheby's "Important Paperweights
from a Private Collection (New York, April 29, 1998)"

of a private collection on April 29, 1998. The sale included over
239 lots, all shown in full color in the catalog. Some weights are

paperweights from Baccarat, St. Louis, Clichy, and Pantin.

was $156,500 for a very rare Pantin Magnum Salamander Weight. Until
this auction, there were only 13 examples known to exist, this being the
14th known example.
All color catalogs like this are the exception rather
than the rule. Combined with the exquisite quality of the collection,
this becomes a must have catalog for every collector. It includes
the prices realized for each lot.
